A day dedicated to the timeless beauty of Odissi in São Paulo
The Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center is pleased to present a special day dedicated to the rich tradition of Odissi - one of the oldest classical dance forms in India with Dr. Sam Goraya.
Dr. Sam Goraya is a renowned Odissi dancer, trained under the guidance of Padma Shri Guru Madhavi Mudgal and Guru Bichitrananda Swain, and with roots in the tradition of Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra. He has performed on five continents, sharing the spiritual, aesthetic, and narrative traditions of this art with audiences around the world.
Throughout the workshop, participants will explore the fundamentals of this extraordinary tradition, including the *taal* (rhythm) system of Odissi, characteristic postures, movements, and brief choreographic sequences, developing a deeper connection with the rich vocabulary, rhythm, and spirit of this ancient form of art.
The day will conclude with a special Odissi performance by Dr. Sam Goraya.
